busy, busy, busy...

Oh, it’s been awhile since my last blog! Well, we’ve been pretty busy. The whole season has just flown by so quickly and here is an update in a nutshell.
While I think I did a pretty good job keeping the blog updated with our last year’s travels there were a few trips that were left out. A trip with Rima to Mammoth Cave National Park in July,

four-wheeling trip to West Virginia with Diana, Jimmy and their friends (we had a blast!), a trip with mom and Natalija to Detroit, Michigan, where a great Lithuanian singer Andrius Mamontovas was performing

and a trip with Derrick to Houston, Texas to celebrate Bree’s graduation.

Derrick took a few trips on his own too- mainly around mid-west ( Virginia , Kentucky , Ohio ) were he participated in various bike race competitions. Considering it was his first year competing in cycle-cross he did really well and we hope that results in 2009 will be even better!

December has been busy with the holiday shopping, parties and dinners, friends visiting from out of town and traveling to Texas . We had a beautiful Christmas week with Christmas Eve dinner at our friends’ house and a midnight mass afterwards. Unfortunately, we had to run out early and only stay for the ‘pre-mass concert’ as Derrick had to work the next day (Christmas day). Rima, a friend of ours with whom we’ve been celebrating holidays for the last 5 years and who has moved to Las Vegas back in October, surprised us on Christmas day by showing up to a dinner at my Mother’s place. She was sneaky and kept us in the dark by making us to believe even the same morning that she was in Vegas. The holidays would have been different without her.

January was a pretty busy month for us too. As soon as the holiday season was over we booked a quick get-away to Mazatlan , Mexico (you can read more about it below). I also decided to go back to school to get a certificate in Digital Design- my class at CSCC started a week prior the trip. We are learning Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign- it all is so much fun! At the end of the month we closed on our investment property and now are keeping ourselves busy with fixing, updating, painting, cleaning and all the other joys that come with it. Feeling overwhelmed at times and in need of a new vacation but all is good and looking forward to see what this year will bring.
