Sailing to the North Channel - Day 1

Day 1 - Sailing to the North Channel

Let our adventure begin! Delayed by a week due to us getting COVID, we are finally ready to set sails!

I finished working, then we packed and left Columbus at 1pm (yeay summer Fridays!). Made a stop by the library to drop off some books, then stopped by Kroger for some provisioning and made it to Brand's marina by 4 or 4:30PM.
Unpacked the car and left the marina for the 6pm bridge.
The wind was coming from the North, 5 to 10 knots (the closer we got to the Middle Bass island the stronger the wind got). Motored all the way to Put in Bay and were hooked on the mooring ball by 8PM. Easy peasy.
We were told we didn't have to pay as long as we didn't leave the boat - fine by us! The boys really wanted to take the water taxi, but we had to get the boat ready for a windy night ahead of us.
At night, D and I barely slept, the wind was 17 gusting 24, the boat was rocking ALL NIGHT LONG making all sorts of creepy noises. Our prayers were answered - thankfully the mooring ball stayed intact and the mast withstood all that nonsense.
